How to launch the game from within the popular VICE emulator (without using the run_me shortcut).

We provided several means to get VICE running on either Windows, MacOS or Linux.
However, it is difficult to describe a generic approach with such a variety of systems.
Rest assured that there is a way to set up VICE on your desktop or laptop!

Once you have VICE running,
do the following:

File -> Attach Cartidge Image -> Smart attach CRT image
and select bomberland.crt

The game will execute itself then and launch the start menu.

In a default VICE installation the following steps are now
required and/or recommended.

Important:
1) Settings -> Model Settings -> SID Model -> 8580 (resid)
this is required as all music/sfx were composed for this chip
(the later C64 revision)

You can improve the audio quality further by the following setting:
Settings -> SID Settings -> reSID sampling method -> Resampling

2)
If you do not want to (or can not) use the NUMPAD for control in Port #2, change it via
Settings -> Joystick Settings -> Define Keysets
we recommend using the cursor keys for North(up), East, South, West and the left CTRL key for Fire.
then:
Settings -> Joystick in Port #2 -> Keyset A

Similarly, feel free to add controls for other players here too :)

3)
The default colours in VICE are a bit pale. The graphics were pixeled with a higher saturation in mind and this how
we play it on our TVs as well.
Settings -> VIC-II Settings -> Render Filer -> CRT Emulation
And then in the CRT controls, increase the saturation slightly. In the end, all settings are up to you, of course.

Now you can play and enjoy the game in your emulator.
You can as well use recent gamepads via USB and there are many more things to explore in this formidable C64 emulator.
