================================================== | Jet Set Willy 25-100 | | | | Game Builder: Andy Ford | | | | Contribution: Daniel Gromann and Ian Rushforth | | | | (jswmm.co.uk) | ================================================== The initial idea of this small game occurred to Andy one boring weekend afternoon. It was to make a mini "25 items and 25 rooms" variant of JSW, but after trying this out, in reality it did not seem that much fun. Thoughts then turned to have a grand total of 100 items spread around 25 modified rooms. This involved much demolition and rebuilding of Willy's original mansion to accomplish sensibly! Given the smaller mansion size, only three spare lives are provided, but there is no time limit. Some of the conventional paths to reach certain items are slightly altered, although the game room layouts are (broadly speaking at least) not too far from the original game. There are also many increased hazards and guardians to keep the player occupied! Daniel and Ian made some excellent suggestions for layout changes and bug fixes, which were implemented. A bit of a twist was taken on the title-screen tune too, as it now plays a cut-down mini version of "If I Was a Rich Man." The loading screen was designed by Daniel. The game itself was not initially planned as a "stand alone" release, but as a free bonus file included with another release. However, other contributors were happy once it had reached a certain stage in its creation that it was actually good enough to stand on its own merits. In fact, after some deliberation it was decided that the game would be launched together with “Manic Miner - A ten-cavern challenge” as a double-bill release, given the conceptual similarities between both projects. So here it is - enjoy!
