LOST ==== LOST AND ALONE YOU MUST SCAVENGE OFF THE LAND TO HELP YOU SURVIVE by John Hunt You are lost in a clearing surrounded by a forest and mountains with only 5 days supply of food and water. Using your wits, and a club or stones, can you fight the elements, your own hunger and thirst, to reach sefaty? Instructions Movement You begin with a movement allowance of 4 cells (N/S/E/W). Over clear terrain you use 1 movement point. Over other terrain you use 2 movement points. As you become weaker your movement allowance decreases. Food and Water You must try to keep your food and water supply as high as possible (maximum of 6 units). Water can be obtained from the tarn or rivers. Food can be obtained from fruit trees, and, if you are quick enough you can club a snake if he should appear (press 'C') and club or stone an animal if he snould appear (press 'C' or 'S'). Be warned, quick reactions are vital! If it rains or snows you needn't worry about water. You will die if you go without food or water for too long. Direction Reliability Low water or food supply may lead to reduced movement ana poor direction reliability (i.e. you may not go in the direction you indicate). If direction reliability gets below 60% there is a change that may occur. The lower the direction reliability then the greater the chance of moving in the wrong direction. Cold Points Watch the weather, it is important! If it snows then your 'cold points' will decrease from 100 to 16. Whilst there is snow on the ground you will lose 1 cold point for each movement point. If the cold points reach 0, you will die from the cold. During snowy weather, in order to restore your cold points to 16 you will need to find shelter, i.e. the caves. As soon as you enter a cave your cold points will increase to 16. When the snow disappears the cold points will become 100 ana remain at 100 until the next period of snow. Snakes If you are bitten by a snake you won't have long to live. Press 'C' to kill the snake. It is also useful food - but be quick! Travel Duration Each day you use up one unit of food and water. Map Display If map background is green then the weather is clement. If map background is white then this indicates snow.
