The pampered masses barely leave their apartments as The Computer attends to their every need. You however are a Rebel. Rebels see MT as yet another product of a bored decadent society and are pledged to preserve the memory of the Old Ways by taking up the challenge of the Battletrack! The Battletrack, a vast expanse of abandoned motorway circling the capital city; the scene of the desperate fight for freedom between the Rebels and the anarchic threat of the Outcasts. Mount your turbo-charged super-bike, the Mean Streak, and take to the road - there can only be one ruler of the highways, you, the Renegade on the Motorbike. Fast moving all-out arcade action for one or two players - meet the perils of the Battletrack head on, and unleash your Mean Streak!!!! The Story so far..... It is the 23rd Century. Society has become so hedonistic and self-orientated - and at the same time so technically advanced - that anything outside the home to all intents and purposes does not exist. All transport is by molecular disassembly/reassembly, so roads no longer have any function. There is, however, always a rebel minority, pledged to preserve the Old Ways by taking on the perils of the Battletrack - a long-abandoned motorway circling the capital city. Their ultimate quest, to complete to journey around the Battletrack and claim the prize of the super-bike par excellence, the Mean Streak. Loading Tape: 48K - Type Load "", Press Enter, then press play on tape recorder. 128K/Plus 2/Plus 3 - Select Tape Loader, press Enter then press play on tape recorder. The Game Mean Streak is a one or two player game, so you can either fend off the computer's Outcast bikers, or fight it out with your best friend. The Prize This is your chance to win that super-bike. The first step to becoming the ultimate biker is to survive all five hazard-ridden levels of the Battletrack. When (if) you get that far, follow the on-screen instructions and you could win a fabulous mountain bike worth L400. Starting When the game has loaded, the demo will auto-run. Press Enter and follow prompts - pressing Enter after each selection. (On 128/Plus 2/ Plus 3, select M for Music during game (default) or N for sound effects) Mean Streak Supports Keyboard, and Kempston, Interface II (Sinclair) and Cursor joysticks. Now Press Fire (or Space in keyboard mode) to start. If no selection is made the demo mode will become active. This will give you a chance to check out some of the more obvious dangers of the Battletrack! Press Fire to return to the option screen. Firstly, Player One controls Mean Streak, with Player Two controling the Outcast bikes as they appear on the screen. Once Player One is destroyed, roies swap and he plays the Outcasts while Player Two plays Mean Streak. The Player who scores the most points as Mean Streak wins! Keep an eye on the timer....extra seconds are awarded for destroying Outcaster bikes. Oil and Ice will make you skid, while other elements may wreck your tyres. Mind the edges of the Battletrack - although Outcast bikes can be nudged into them. Watch outfor walls - they're fatal unless blown to bits!
