The Perils of Willy - Full game, but may be subject to change. Greetings, and thankyou for downloading Perils of Willy. If you made a donation, I am especially grateful. With enough support, I may create further addons for this game. So here is the backstory: Perils of Willy was first released for the Vic-20 in 1984. In general it is considered to be the 'poor relation' in the family, suffering from a host of issues including slow gameplay, poor graphics, screen flicker, and a number of unusual game mechanics. Nevertheless, as an 'official' Willy game, there was often talk of it being converted to the Spectrum, and when I decided to take a look, I realised that maybe, just maybe, there was a fairly playable game in there somewhere, provided that (1) it ran on something similar to the original engine, (2) the graphical issues were fixed and (3) the game mechanics were tweaked to make them more balanced. The result would be a tough but fair game that had the look, feel, and playability of the original. On balance I think I achieved this, but of course you may be the judge of that. Instructions: collect objects, avoid baddies. Controls are the same as Manic Miner and the Kempston and Cursor Joysticks should also work. One additional feature is the 'suicide' option. If you find yourself trapped you can kill Willy by pressing symbol-shift+space. Pressing symbol-shift, space and 'A' will reset and send you back to the title screen.
