The Game -------- This game is a re-write of the 1986 game of the same name released by Alpha Omega Software (A budget arm of CRL). Santa has to deliver presents to a household without being caught. To do this he has to grab one present at a time from his Grotto and head into the house to find the socks to deposit the gift. There are also glasses of sherry to drink. The game is complete when the score is 100% and Santa gets back to the Grotto. The Update ---------- This updated version improves almost every element of the original. It has new graphics, better gameplay, better music, it’s completable and doesn’t crash. You can at least complete this version unlike the original one! There are also two extra rooms that act as a route back to the grotto. See Background for details. Controls -------- Santa can be controlled using a Kempston or Sinclair joystick, or by using the keyboard (QAOP SPACE). Background ----------- After playing the terrible original (see Episode 124 of The Spectrum Show) I decided to try and improve the whole game. There were so many bugs in the original: 1. Bad collision detection on platforms 2. No logical route back to the grotto – Santa has to jump through ceilings! 3. Point 2 also causes Santa to appear in the room above if you jump high enough! 4. Game cannot be completed. 5. Upon scoring 100% the text corrupts when you leave the last room. 6. Un-used lever in the cellar. 7. Game crashed after getting 100% if you did certain things. 8. Presents can still be collected even after you get 100%. 9. You can become embedded in the walls – and in one room it is required to actually continue! All of the above are fixed in the new version. NOTES: ====== This game will work on 48k machines/emulators, but will not have sound. Emulators that support AY emulation in 48k mode should use that setting, or use 128,+2 or +3 modes. Real 128,+2,+3 machines should work fine. DISTRIBUTION =========== This game may NOT be included in any CD, DVD or other media without the express written permission of the author.
