THE GAME A one or two player game. England is host to an International Tournament of the World's Cricket Teams. There are five grounds to choose from which all suit different types of bowler. Pressing 'O' will bring up the special options menu. This allows you to save or load a game position, or declare the innings. SETTING THE FIELD The computer will set it's own field. Press Y when asked to set your field and you'll see an overview of the pitch and you can move all your players except the bowler. Move the highlighted fielder and press fire to move on to the next one. When you're happy with placings, Press ENTER. BOWLING Pressing Fire when the bowler's arm is at it's highest point in delivery makes the ball pitch close to the batsman's crease. Pressing Fire between the highest point and actual delivery makes the ball pitch closer to the bowler's end. The length of time that the fire button is depressed denotes the direction of the ball. For example: a short depression takes the ball towards the off side (left) of the wicket; a longer depression takes it to the leg side (right). BATTING You can play five shots, with the keys as follows: LATE CUT | HOOK LATE CUT W HOOK U O Q E \ | / \ | / \ | / \ | / \|/ \|/ H ---J--- K A ---S--- D /|\ /|\ / | \ / | \ / | \ / | \ B N Z C OFF-DRIVE M ON-DRIVE OFF-DRIVE X ON-DRIVE DEFENCE DEFENCE PLAYER ONE PLAYER TWO FIELDING SCREEN To make your batsman run press fire. As the ball travels from the bat it's height is between 1 & 10 and a fielder is in the way, the batsman will be caught out. The ball will continue travelling until strength is 0, it crosses the boundary or it's fielded. Fielding can only be done by the highlighted player.
