Hard thieves' everyday life in the Bagman arcade remake

The vintage 1982 arcade Bagman released by Valadon Automation has had happy times. Over the past 15 months, two different remakes have been available to retro game fans at once. The gameplay of both remained the same - the players control a thief who climbs tangled mines, stealing bags of money and trying not to get caught by guards. However, you can get cheeky and stun them with a pickaxe or a bag of money dropped from above.

The first version is called Bagman Comes Back. It was created by Luca Carminati, also known as LC-Games, and is designed to run on Windows. The game is a kind of homage to the original arcade and consists of 8 brand new stages. "The Return of the Bagman" is available download from the official page completely free.

The version by the French programmer under the nickname JOTD, on the other hand, pretty much repeats the original - no wonder, because he simply disassembled it, taking all the game logic from there. Actually, that's why the name remained unchanged - just Bagman. True, JOTD tweaked the guard movement chart a bit and added a "3 screen" mode that looks like this:

The game wasn't released on one platform, but three at once:

  • Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10 (full speed and a fair 50 fps is promised)
  • Nintendo DS (normal speed, no record)
  • Amiga OS 68k with only 2 MB of RAM (not good speed if you don't use an emulator)
  • Amiga OS 68k with graphics card (also a fair 50 fps)
