In 1982, Larry Miller developed a shooter game Spider Fighter for the Atari 2600. It was not as successful as Megamania, another Activision release of the same genre from the same year, but it was not a failure either. According to the author's idea, the players had to protect an orchard from the attacks of insects. Opponents were presented as much as four kinds. Journalists at the time described the game as "similar to Stratovox, an arcade shooter from 1980.
In late February, a team of three enthusiasts released a remake of this classic game on the Commodore 64. The Australian coder Haplo was responsible for the code, his partner Marukpa did the graphics and the music is by Richard Bayliss. The game can be downloaded either from here or, not to go far, directly from "Perfect Pixel".
