Four enthusiasts - Sean Watters, Mike Richmond, Colin Vella and TenShu - have been working with enviable consistency on a series of dungeon wanderers called Black Dawn for the Commodore Amiga. The series is distributed commercially and judging by the fact that the series is still alive, it has no shortage of fans. But the seventh installment, Black Dawn: Rebirth, is now available for free download.
Black Dawn: Rebirth is a sci-fi game set in the year 2621. A space rescuer from the TFS Sentinel ship Ensign Bren arrives on the planet Talax 9 to investigate why the research base is not communicating. From the outside, the base appears to be perfectly serviceable and undamaged, but as soon as he descends to the lower levels, monsters pounce on the rescuer.
The game's list of perks boasts 64 colors on screen, PAL/NTSC compatibility, a "stunning animated intro," and other technical plusses. And in terms of gameplay Rebirth threatens to showcase 7 dungeons with 21 levels to explore, 14 types of weapons, 21 types of enemies (three in each dungeon), and "a sense of real, poorly concealed happiness while passing." But the latter is already optional.
You can download the game from the official page or directly from "Perfect Pixel".
