Doug Turner, creator of Icicle Works and Prospector Pete, after more than 30 years has decided to make a new game for Commodore Plus/4 in the spirit of Boulder Dash. According to the author, the idea The Pit was born out of a desire to return to Icicle Works to fix bugs - primarily the lack of smooth scrolling. In addition, the developer used his own developments and Prospector Pete's character.
Prospector Pete is on a new quest. He must traverse 36 caverns, collecting gems along the way, solving puzzles and battling monsters. In addition, the dungeons are dotted with boulders ready to collapse on his head if the hero is not careful. But not only monsters and rocks are dangerous mines - here there is a radioactive element Hemanium. If Pete gathers too much of it, the substance will reach a critical mass. The main thing is to get away from such a pile.
This isn't the first The Pit in the universe. Perfect Pixel previously wrote about how someone Dave Tansley ported an old arcade game with a similar name and similar gameplay to the ZX Spectrum. So similar, in fact, that Doug Turner's creation could be called a remake. You can see for yourself if you can download the new version of The Pit from plus4world or straight from "Perfect Pixel".
