In 2019, programmer Mike Richmond released Vegetables, a game in the three-in-a-row genre that has become particularly popular on smartphones. Only Richmond's work was grounded for the Commodore 64. A little later, a digital version was followed by a physical one, after which the puzzle was ported to the Amiga, with improved graphics and sound in the process. In the midst of the pandemic, the digital Deluxe edition was even given away for free as part of moral support.
And last fall it was announced that Richmond would release Vegetables Deluxe for the ZX Spectrum. The game will be published by the same company Double Sided Games, which has already opened a pre-order on their website. You can buy a copy of the game in digital form for € 5, as well as in physical media for € 10. It should be released this month, and a little later should come out a version for Commodore VIC-20, published by Arlagames.
In Vegetables Deluxe players must move the different vegetables (a total of five varieties) so as to collect in a single horizontal or vertical row of three or more pieces of the same color. The new edition will get improved visuals and possibly additional features that were not present in previous versions.
