Fans of all sorts of miniature computers, consoles and arcade machines who want to build a complete collection of such devices, but are not burning with the desire to import from Japan, now just have to praise Limited Run, which will release in North America, England and Europe Astro City Mini. We wrote about this tiny machine with a bunch of preinstalled arcade games from Sega not once and not twice - in the Land of Rising Famikom it went on sale last year, and now it got to our (well, relatively) Palestinian.
In short, Astro City - this is the most popular series of arcade games from Sega in the past, so it is it the company has chosen to miniaturize. The new device boasts a micro-switch joystick (something many lacked in the Neo Geo Mini), six game buttons, Start and Credit buttons, HDMI output, headphone output, two USB-A ports and one Micro-USB port.
The Astro City Mini comes with exactly 37 games (one more than the Japanese version):
The Astro City Mini's price is pretty much the same: it sold for 12,800 yen in Japan and costs $130 in the US. There's also a special gamepad, similar in number of buttons to the advanced controller from the Mega Drive, for extra convenience and for two-person play (alas, no more) - it's priced at $28. There's also a so-called "stylish set" consisting of a miniature arcade base and a tiny chair - this joy will cost another $40.
Alas, the U.S. stock of Limited Run ran out almost instantly, as only 3,500 kits were produced. It's unknown if the company plans to restock them, but for now you can overpay a bit and buy the Astro City Mini in England for £130. There is also an option with two gamepads in a set for £190. Alas, the "stylish set" was not given to the British for some reason.
