Our old acquaintance Allan Tarvey, who released a good "remake" of Bruce Lee platformer-bitemap, has slightly modernized another masterpiece for ZX Spectrum - Jetpac from Ultimate Play the Game, besides several purely his own games.
Allan took the game disassembler made by Michael Cook as basis, and decided to make some changes in gameplay and graphics. But then he got carried away and started adding new features one by one, fulfilling not only his own desires, but also the requests of his friends, colleagues, and Facebook subscribers.
The result is Jetpac RX - a game that differs from the original with randomly generated levels, graphical improvements, particle effects, the ability to override keys, new power-ups (their sprites, by the way, are taken from other Ultimate releases) and a bunch of different little things. Jetpac RX is played in the same way as the 1983 masterpiece, it just became much more convenient and diverse - a useful innovation for the fans who passed the original up and down.
Not to get in the crosshairs of current Jetpac brand owners, Allan released his update as a POK file, which you can "roll" onto an old game in an emulator like Fuse or Spectaculator. You can download it from official Jetpac RX page. But we guys are fearless, so keep the finished game in two versions - cassette and disc (thanks to Shadow Maker for the latter).
