The results of the SEUCK Compo 2020 contest for the best game for Commodore 64

Our cursed perfectionism forces us to write about the results of even those contests that passed long ago and have been safely replaced by their followers.

For example, the results of SEUCK Compo 2020 organized by The New Dimension and Richard Bayliss became known as far back as August 2, 2020, but we only got around to it now. Of course, that's not surprising - this year's contest was very quiet, only 9 games were submitted, but only 17 people took part in the voting.

However, we did have some good games and they all made it to the top 3. Here's how places and scores were distributed:

  1. Synthia in the Cyber Crypt - 142 points
  2. Spearhead - 139
  3. Guillotine - The Doom Machine - 118
  4. Fish Pond - RoboVox - 109
  5. Space Fighter - 102
  6. Lagrangian Point 3 - The Earth-Moon Elevator - 76
  7. Terminus - 68
  8. Wild Wafers Deluxe - 61
  9. Chode Loader - 60

There are no monetary or material prizes in SEUCK Compo, but as a gesture of goodwill, organizer Richard Bayliss helps the people in the top three to bring their games to life - he writes new music, draws screensavers, adds a table of records and so on. Where possible, transfers the game to SEUCK Redux - an updated version of the engine, free of the old brakes and glitches.

So it happened this time too - the first three games got a nice "polish", and the updated versions can be played by downloading the "Prize Disc" from The New Generation website or from "Perfect Pixel".
